“I MYSELF ALSO AM A MAN” (ACTS 10:26)
AN EXPOSITION OF PSALM 82 AND JOHN 10
BY JOHN SO
I visited Manila in early October of 1994. Some very concerned young people from the church in Pasay City, Metro Manila, came to see me. Among them was a young brother who had participated in a special young people’s training in Metro Manila. At that training, they were strongly compelled to raise up their hands and declare loudly and repeatedly, “Hallelujah, I am a baby God, I am a holy God, I am God!”
This particular young man refused to make such a declaration and was consequently dismissed from the training for being “rebellious.” Some of these trainees also attended the Sunday morning meeting at the church in Pasay City, and there they shouted that they were Gods. I was told that they cited Psalm 82:6, John 10:34-36, and also I John 3:2 in order to convince others that such proclamations were fully scriptural. In the course of our fellowship, these concerned young believers earnestly requested that I write a paper on these verses to help others to be clear regarding the context of these scriptures.
Due to the urgency of the situation, and in order to avoid confusion and division in the church in Pasay City, I quickly wrote a four-page article entitled “I Myself Am Just a Man” on October 12, 1994, and an explanation of these verses. To my utter surprise, I was told a couple of months later that four people had written a whole book accusing me of having allegedly written a book entitled “The Worst Blasphemous Words of Witness Lee against God.” God knows that I never wrote a book with such a title! I just ignored the whole matter. There were even some individuals who wrote me to request copies of the alleged title after reading their book. It just came to my attention recently that some of Witness Lee’s followers had even taken the trouble to travel to Paris to confuse the brothers by spreading the allegation.
Therefore, after much consideration before the Lord, I feel the need to print the article which I wrote last October in the Philippines to clear up some confusion. I do hope that whoever reads this may receive some help regarding scriptural truths.
Apart from some minor editing, the content of this article has remained the same as the original.

"I MYSELF ALSO AM A MAN"
Recently, many dear brothers and sisters have been confused by the serious heretical teaching that man can become god (or God). The main verses that these heretics misuse are Psalm 82:6, John 10:3436, and I John 3:2. In order to help the believers, I would like to briefly explain these portions of the scriptures in their context. May the Lord grant us a spirit of wisdom and revelation.
